Increasing efficiency and maximizing profits is the most important goal of a business. To achieve this goal easy-to-use AV systems and secure IT systems play a very important role. In the past decades, people often separate AV and IT into two different systems. With the development of technology, programmers can integrate AV and IT systems into a unified system: AV-over-IP. This integrated system can be a more flexible design. It also allows for a more efficient way to power multiple devices. We at Q-NEX offer a complete campus broadcast solution based on this technology. We called “Campus Wide AV Broadcast” and you can click here to get more details.

1.What is AV-over-IP

AV-over-IP is a digital communication technology. AV-over-IP is also known as AV/IP or AVoIP which refers to the use of network equipment to transmit video and audio. It enables AV signals to be sent and encoded over standard Ethernet cables. The data is decoded and then converted back to audio and video signals. This allows users directly get high-quality video & audio.

2.Key Advantages of AV-over-IP System

This technology has a very prominent advantage, that is, the design is very flexible. IP AV switchers can be bi-directional data transmission through the RJ45 interface. HDMI has a fixed direction of data transmission. It is difficult to change the program that has been set in the interface.

2.1 The rapid development of AVoIP technology has transformed the traditional AV devices around us. And the campus environment is one of them. The Q-NEX campus audio and video distribution solution is based on AV-over-IP technology. It can enable AV broadcasting and the distribution of video to all classrooms and to other places like libraries, hallways, cafeterias, reception halls, and offices. By deploying Q-NEX Networked Media Processor (NMP), Media Server, and Media Box (MBX) in the solution, you can distribute audio, video, and control signals over the Internet using the campus’ existing network. It also means that with AVoIP, you can use different products in the same system. If you have a microphone you like better than another, then use it!

2.2 PoE (Power over Ethernet) is another key benefit of AV/IP systems. You can interconnect your devices via PoE switches. And PoE can offer power for your devices. It also means that users can use technology that transmits power over network cables. Users can transfer data and power supply to the IP Devices like IP phones, IP cameras, and so on. Only one PoE cable is needed to transmit the signal and power. This significantly reduces the number of wires needed to connect the user’s devices.

3. Application Scenarios of Campus AV-over-IP System

We have the core product NMP because it can be used to control the devices on campus centrally. Users can manage media resources through the media server. The core goal is to bring more convenience to users. There are many application scenarios used on campus.

3.1 AV Broadcasting

The IT administrators can upload different AV content to the media server. Distribution of AV is done through the network. So that it can be broadcast throughout the campus at any time. Customized ringtones, customized English listening, and other contents can be played.

3.2 Text Message Broadcasting

Besides AV content, the Q-NEX solution allows users to broadcast text messages. Users send messages in text format to all display devices connected to the Q-NEX NMP or MBX. This enables functions such as sending daily messages, important alerts, and announcements.

3.3 Streaming Live AV

In addition to the daily broadcast function, Q-NEX also provides the function of live streaming. Whether it’s an AV broadcast or live streaming, the Q-NEX web console can deliver the signal to every classroom via the network. The school principal can deliver a speech directly from his office.

·How to Use Live Streaming

First, you have to make sure you have internet access. Then choose an IP camera and connect it to your PC or download streaming software on your phone. Such as Broadcast, Larix, and so on. You can enter the Q-NEX web console platform and copy the RTMP address to the URL in the delivery software. Click start and you will be able to preview the image from your phone on the console. Click Start on the console and you can live stream. You can also select the classroom you want to live stream. As long as you have the NMP  in the classroom, then all classrooms can receive the live content at the same time.

3.4 Scheduling Broadcast Tasks

To reduce the workload of IT administrators we provide the function of scheduled tasks. Users can schedule broadcast tasks at different times through the Q-NEX console platform. By automatically broadcasting the contents according to the schedule, it reduces the repetitive work of administrators.

·How to Use Scheduling Task

You can enter the web console platform and choose the Schedule. On this part, you can set the time and task type.  Such as power control devices and automatic broadcasting. After setting, you can reduce a lot of workloads.

The technology of AV/IP is essential to increase efficiency. This technology allows companies to use the latest technology. It also simplifies the operation of equipment. And reducing expenses is a key advantage. It can solve a lot of daily problems for users. For example, diversifying the broadcast format(like audio, video, and text), setting up timed tasks, and so on. As more and more companies use this system, it could develop into a mainstream trend soon.
