Brand Origin

Explore the history of Returnstar Technology, the company behind IQ and Q-NEX brand as it dives into education technology industry for over 18 years.

Our History - history 2

The year 2006 marked the birth of Returnstar, a pioneering entity that would soon reshape the educational technology landscape. The founder, Mr. Jack Denkins, found himself reflecting on his time as an IT teacher amidst rows of desks and chalkboards that had remained unchanged for decades.

Jack’s vision stemmed from his firsthand experience in the classroom where he observed how traditional teaching methods were struggling to  keep pace with the rapid advancements in technology. Together with a group of visionaries, who were once his classmates back in college, passionate about blending innovation with pedagogy, they set sail on a mission to revolutionize classrooms worldwide, envisioning a future where cutting-edge tools could not only enhance teaching efficiency but also ignite the spark of curiosity and engagement in every student’s mind.

Founders of Returnstar Technology came up with the brand name IQ, synonymous with intelligence quotient, which serves as a symbol of the brand’s commitment to encouraging students to believe in their ability to grow smarter and more intelligent with each interaction they have with the brand’s offerings.

In 2008, after two years of testing in the domestic market, IQ made a resounding debut on the global stage with its self-developed interactive whiteboard IQBoard, a groundbreaking tool that seamlessly merged traditional teaching methods with cutting-edge technology. Bundled with proprietary whiteboard software, this innovative solution transformed classrooms into dynamic, interactive hubs of learning, enabling teachers to engage students like never before. By 2010, IQ’s footprint extended beyond borders, with its export value soaring past $10 million, a testament to the universal appeal of its high-quality, user-centric ed-tech offerings. IQ’s lineup of education equipment has kept expanding as well, with products from IQBoard interactive whiteboard to IQTouch interactive flat panel, IQShare wireless presentation system, and IQClick interactive response system, We have gradually become a professional solution provider for millions of schools, laying the foundation for a new era of smart classroom.

In 2012, the company undertook a pivotal share reform, further solidifying its corporate structure and positioning itself for accelerated growth. In 2014, IQ took another giant leap by settling into the prestigious Fuzhou Hi-tech Park, where it would continue to innovate and expand its research and development capabilities. This move signified the company’s commitment to driving technological advancement in education. Year after year, we invest substantial resources into R&D initiatives, consistently refining and upgrading both hardware and software solutions. The dedicated team of IQ experts relentlessly pushes the envelope of innovation to deliver products and services that anticipate and surpass the evolving needs of educators and students alike. In a monumental achievement, Returnstar transitioned into a publicly listed company in 2016, inviting investors and stakeholders to participate in its mission to foster smarter, more connected classrooms. As technology advanced and educational needs evolved, IQ recognized the need for a more holistic approach to campus management. Since in today’s world, it’s not just about flooding the classroom with hi-tech equipment, but more importantly, to help teachers effectively and seamlessly use each device for their teaching, instead of feeling overwhelmed by complicated technologies. Thus, in the year 2017, Q-NEX was born—a subsidiary brand that combines the expertise of IQ with a forward-thinking vision for the future of education. The name Q-NEX is a testament to our brand ethos. The “Q” pays homage to IQ, representing intelligence, innovation, and excellence. Meanwhile, “NEX” embodies our commitment to connectivity and collaboration. It represents the nexus, the link that binds together disparate elements into a cohesive whole. With Q-NEX, our goal is to create intelligently controlled and organized campuses that empower educators and inspire learners. Feeling Users’ Pain

This technological marvel is meant to enhance the learning experience, yet it often becomes a source of frustration for teachers and IT managers alike. The user pain points are palpable. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to alleviate the strain on educators and administrators alike. Through a unified control platform, we streamline device management, offering a single touchpoint for controlling multimedia devices across multiple classrooms and campuses. No longer will teachers be bogged down by technical glitches or cumbersome equipment. With Q-NEX, they can focus on what they do best: inspiring and educating the next generation.
